1.1 Effective teaching: It’s referred to in terms of a focus on learner outcomes, teacher
behaviours as well as classroom processes that are in the best interest of the learners,
to improve and promote learner success.

1.2 Context variables: refers to the characteristics of the context of teaching and learning,
like teacher and learner characteristics and subject content. These variables influences
teaching and learning success.

Process variables: it is wat actually happens in the classroom and deals with the
perceptions, strategies, behaviours or teachers and learners, characteristics of the
learning tasks and activities and how all of this interact with each other.

Product variables: The intent is to accomplish, and it refers to the educational
outcomes desired by teachers and that have formed a basis of a teacher’s planning of
lessons as well as the criteria they or others used to judge effectiveness.


1.3 Reflective teaching: It’s a process where teachers look at what they do in the
classroom, then think about why they do it and consider whether it works. Reflective
teaching is: deliberate, purposeful, structured, about thinking theory and practice, to do
with learning and lastly about change and professional development of the teacher.
