Introduction:
In this report I will be analyzing the marketing opportunities and challenges faced by a
selected business (ASDA) when using internet marketing. The business I have chosen to do
this with is Asda. Asda Stores Ltd. (stylized as ASDA) is a British supermarket chain which
retails food, clothing, general merchandise, toys and financial services. Its head office is at
Asda House in Leeds, Yorkshire.
Meeting Customer Expectations:
ASDA will ensure that their items that are available on their site are all constantly up to
stock. The reason being is that it will cause a great deal of customer satisfaction if the
customer found an item they wanted but sadly was not in stock. Also the Asda customers
are expecting higher levels of reliability and responsiveness. The challenge for online
marketers such as Asda is to anticipate and understand what customer expectations will be.
Asda try to keep their customers satisfied by offering them discounts and promotional offers.
When the customers shop online and they have finished their order and went through the
transaction Asda will tell them an estimate delivery time. So therefore the customer knows
approximately what time the delivery will be coming so they do not need to stay at home all
Day. So this helps Asda meet on of the customers’ expectations.
Payment Security:
ASDA has to ensure the safety of their customers when they shop online. The Internet is full
of people wanting to misuse other people’s credit card information. This can easily be
obtained if a site does not have proper secure payment security. ASDA on the other hand do
in fact allow their customers to pay for items safely. Some of The Asda’s customers are often
too scared to pay their transactions via online because the customers think that they possible
can get into a fraud. There are many online hackers out there so the customers have a doubt
before they shop through the internet. The payment security systems will prevent any
unauthorized access. The ASDA customers will trust the website more and they will feel safe
when they are using their credit or debit card. So if the customers feel safe they will tell other
people that the website is safe so more people will shop at Asda, because they know that
their details are safe.
