Evidence-Based Practice Project Proposal: Research Design Comparison Research has confirmed that evidence-based practice improves patient outcomes when
used by nurses (Lehane et al., 2018). Notably, evidence-based nursing involves the careful application of best evidence to particular clinical problems. Different clinical problems demand different research designs. Notably, no single research is superior to another, but instead, each research design chosen must fit the particular research question and problem. According to Titler
(2018), both qualitative and quantitative research designs generate valuable knowledge for nursing practice. However, translational research is a growing area of interest that promotes the uptake of evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes and population health. This paper compares translational research articles and articles with different types of research designs for evidence-based research to address the issue of readmission in discharged elderly patients with heart failure.
