ACUTE FASE

Symptomen bij perifeer vestibulaire dysfunctie door verstoring vestibulaire connecties (vestibulaire en visuele
informatie niet in balans waardoor er verwarring ontstaat in de vestibulaire nucleii)-> resulteert vaak in:
- Nystagmus/ gaze instabiliteit / oscillopsia (vestibulo-oculaire reflex)
- Verminderde posturale controle / instabiliteit (vestibulo-spinale reflex)
- Vertigo / desorientatie / motion sensitivity (vestibulo-thalamo-corticale connecties)
- Nausea (vestibulo-autonome interactie)
-> leiden allemaal indirect tot een verminderd activiteitenniveau
Statische deficieten
- Spontane nystagmus (weg van aangedane zijde)
o Spontane nystagmus na een acute unilaterale vestibulaire hypofunctie -> meest actieve zijde duwt de
ogen weg naar de affected side in de trage fase en snelle fase weer terug
- Lateropulsie (naar aangedane zijde) tijdens gang en stand : Unterberger / Fukunda stepping test / marche a

o Fukudastepping or Unterbergerstepping
§ Turning more then45°or 2 m forward in the course of 50 steps is pathological (other sources
allow 30° rotation, 50 cm forward stepping & NO backward stepping)
