Wounds Definition

Wound is a lack of continuity (discontinuity) of the skin, mucous membranes and
underlying tissues, caused by traumatic agents (mechanical, thermal or chemical)

Superficial wounds: Far from natural orifices; Bleeding is a minor; It was not caused by
a tool or an animal.



CLASSIFICATIONS
According to the traumatic agent:

MECHANICAL:

 Cutting (accidental, surgical)
 Stabing, Puncture;
 Bite;
 Shooting
 Contusion;

THERMAL: - Burns;- Frostbite;

CHEMICAL: - burns;

ELECTRICAL: - electrocution, lightning;


According to the affected anatomical region: (scalp, face, limbs, abdomen, etc)

According to depth and complexity:

SUPERFICIAL: confined to the skin and underlying tissues, do not exceed the fascial
layer;

DEEP

– Non-penetrating(not enter the serous cavities)

- Blind - Through and through - simple -complex

- Penetrating

- Without visceral injuries - With visceral injuries;

The skin surface is split or torn following blunt traumaon a soft tissue located above a
hard tissue

The full thickness of the skin is damaged




Abrasion

An abrasion is a superficial injury, commonly known as a 'graze' or 'scratch'.

This type of wound damages only the epidermis



Surgical wound:




Mechanisms
Penetration: damaged tissue penetrated by the bullet (trajectory through the body
from the entrance to exit wound);

Permanent cavity: the amount of space occupied by the destroyed tissue wiyh the
passage of the missile.
