Reproduction
Angiosperm reproduction
Male and female parts of a flower
Pollination vs fertilization
Crops and commercial plant usage
Reproduction The ability of organisms to produce a new
generation of themselves
Two natural types:
Asexual Production of a new generation of the same
species by one parent
1 stage
Offspring genetically identical to parent
Fast
More efficient=less energy need
No gametes formed
No genetic variation
Sexual Production of a new generation of the same
species by bringing together the genetic material
of two parents
2 stages
Offspring are genetically different
slow
Less efficient
Gametes formed
Genetic variation
Angiosperm reproduction
What is an angiosperm? Plants with flowers that produce their ovules
enclosed in an ovary
What is a flower? The organ of sexual reproduction. It contains the
reproductive organs /often will attract pollinators
Male gametes=anthers
Female gametes=ovary
