Introduction
In this report I will be assessing the impotence of employability and personal
skills in the recruitment and retention of staff in a BskyB.

Employability skills:
Employability skills are skills that are necessary for getting and being successful
in a job application and they help an individual nearly guarantee the required
job. These skills allow employees to work for an organisation as efficiently as
possible in order to increase maximum output and reach a maximum level of
efficiency. As an employee it is important to have great employability skills in
order to be given the best opportunity to be a successful candidate, some skills
are:
 Verbal Communication
 Team Work
 Commercial Awareness
 Analysing & Investigation
 Self-motivated
 Written communication
 Organised
 Time management
 Flexible
 Driven
 Confidence
 Conflict resolution

These are just some skill there are many more that a candidate could develop In
order to improve their chance of being employed.
Confidence:
Confidence is a great characteristic to have because it allows employers to know
that you are comfortable with your self and comfortable speak to customers,
when you speak confidentiality to customers it shows that you have faith in the
brand and faith in the organisation and in return customers will feel confident to
speak to you. This is why employers look for confidence. Confidence is also a
good thing to have because it encourages positive energy and positive energy
will encourage people to build relationships with customers. Confidence also
reflects onto your work. An organisation like BSkyB will look for this feature
because this feature will benefit the company.
Teamwork skills:
This is a employability skill that demonstrates you are able to work with other
employees and possible a customer if they’re everwhere to be a situation like
that. Strong teamwork skills would allow an individual to work within a team at
BSkyB because it will allow employees to help one another and learn from each
other, this in return will make a more efficient organisation. An employee will
demonstrate his/her team player skills by simple task such as; listening to one

another's questions and responding with resect. This shows employers you are a
team player. All individuals within the team are putting their efforts into the
work. Also asking questions is advised because this would allow you to know
more about the business and become more experienced in working with a team.

Communication skills:
This skill involves being able to communicate verbally and communicate through
written work. When communicating verbally maintaining good eye contact and
having a good body language will give a positive vibe and allow good
communication. Having good communication appeals more to the employers as
it shows you are confident and self-aware and you know how to present your self.
For a position in BSkyB it is important to have strong communication skills, this
allows customers to experience good customer service.
Personal skills
These are skills that a person is good at and is able to easily demonstrate them.
It is skills that you are able to use every day.
Organised:
Organisation is a key personal skill because it shows that you care about what
you are doing and you have general interest in your work and take pride in your
work. Being organised also refers to time management, what this means is that
you as an individual will meet deadlines and will also be ready and on time with
any work. BskyB would benefit from an organised employee because they will
have their work done always on time and this means that BSkyB don’t have to
chase them for their work.
Hardworking:
A hard working employee shows employers that you can work to the best of your
ability. It also shows that you as a individual are dedicated and willing to put the
extra work in order to get the Job done. BSkyB would benefit from employees
who are hardworking because it would allow the business to make more profit
from staff putting all their energy into the business.
Resolving Disputes:
Resolving disputes shows that an employee is capable of handling problems for
the business. It also shows that you understand that an organisation needs
people to work on the same page because if they don’t then this will affect the
quality of the work. , Employees who resolve disputes are beneficial for BskyB as
it wouldn’t lower the reputation of the business. This means that if the problem is
resolved quicker the business can run normally without any other problems.
Communication skills
This is when you send and receive information that can be done through a
variety of methods. This could be done through the phone, email, letter etc.
