What is qualitative and quantitive research is and how
they differ
Quantitative research: is collecting information from a broad population
sample e.g. by conducting questionnaires, this is used when Coca Cola GB wants
to gauge appeal across a wide audience.
Qualitative research: is working with small 'focus' groups. This involves far
more detailed investigations, e.g. gathering a small group of mostly consumers
to test products or to talk about their opinions and experiences of using different
products. Qualitative research, even though it’s not representative of the views
of the general population it provides greater insight into 'why' people think what
they think.
The difference between qualitative research and quantitative research is that
qualitative research is primarily exploratory research whereas quantitative
Research is used to quantify the problem by way of generating numerical data or
data that can be transformed into useable statistics.
