Shows A verb that we should attempt to avoid because it leads us down a path of summary or translation of textual evidence when what we really want is analysis of textual evidence. Conveys, Illustrates, Argues, Suggests Words that could be used to replace "shows," though there are many others. Thinking What the AP Lang exam truly tests, not your writing. Your writing is simply a representation of your thinking, which is why grammar doesn't matter much. Qualified A converted score of 3, 4, or 5 on any AP exam. Possibly Qualified A converted score of 2 on any AP exam. Pass/Fail Not terms used to describe any score on any AP exam. You "passed" when you took the class, worked hard, and took the exam seriously.
