A. Purpose
B. Structure
A.= The purpose of this portfolio is to use the knowledge and information which I
have learnt during the course of the semester to be able to demonstrate diversity in
terms of my linguistic and cultural diversities teaching awareness and sensitivity
training in aims of improving my interpersonal linguistic identity within relationships in
my everyday life. In addition, I am going to be revealing 5 elements in terms of the
First portfolio, Second portfolio, Third portfolio, Forth portfolio and lastly, my Final
reflection of the entire AFL1501 Online module and discussing the effect of Ubuntu
to language in my modern communal life, followed by my conclusion as I wrap up the

B.= Structure of my assignment
The structure of my portfolio will have 3 important parts, that is, an Introduction, Body
which is my main part of the discussion and finally my Conclusion where I will be
wrapping up all my ideas.
The first portfolio activity which is about my introduction on my block in terms of the
language I speak (Language identity), and where I come from will be followed by a
screenshot of my block discussion.
The second portfolio activity requires me to watch a video of “Umtshato” (Wedding)
and discuss what role it does storytelling in perpetuating cultural ideas and traditions,
followed by my input on Nomathatamsanqa Khumbuza and how language and
culture brought to life her realisation and understanding of her culture through
storytelling and further elaborating on how her ecolect and idiolect of her family living
in rural areas.
Hence I will also be looking at my own idiolect/ecolect and explain how it deferrers or
relate to the people from the culture of my geographical area.
The Third portfolio activity consists of my introduction, Task 1 and body.
Followed by the Forth portfolio activity where I rework my assignment 5 taking into
consideration the comments I received on my assignment feedback from my lecturer
