● Berlin wall knocked down 9th November, 1989
● World War 2 ended 1945
● 1948 → Berlin got split into the East and West
● USSR wanted all of Berlin
● Berlin Airlift brought resources into West Berlin
● West side was against the USSR
● 13th August, 1961 → Berlin Wall went up (Mainly barbed wire)
● It was easy for East Germans to cross the border (As long as they had identification)
● East German border control killed 65 people on the Berlin Wall between 1961 and
1963
● Checkpoint Charlie was only for allied forces (USA, UK, and France)
● West Berlin was split between USA, UK, and France
● Aggression East and West was common
