● The Fraud act 2006- Abolished a number of offences of deception under the Theft Act 1968 and 1978
● Several different offences were replaced with the more general offence of Fraud
Fraud by false representation-
● Making an untrue or incorrect statement or acting in a way to imply one thing while meaning another in order to
make a gain or cause a loss

● D dishonestly makes a false representation (D intends, by making the representation, to make a gain for themselves
or another, or to cause a loss to another/expose them to a risk of loss)
● A “representation” basically means a ‘statement’ or ‘making out’
