M1- Explain the differing roles of organizations in travel and how they interrelate with one
another
British Airways-
British Airways is a tourism business which operates in the private sector. This business’
aims are to ensure that they can reduce carbon emissions and the amount of waste that is
produced by their on board services. The differing roles of organisation in British Airways all
come together in the way of wanting to achieve the aim of reducing the amount of carbon
emissions and trash produced. British Airways is also aiming to make profit but are also
putting reducing their waste products along side the making of profits. They talked about
how they wanted to start to be eco-friendly as well as keeping their aircraft comfortable for
their passengers as to keep a good amount of profit coming in.
Making restrictions to the weight of luggage that can be taken on board per person is a
process that they are trying to gain as to reduce the weight to the aircraft meaning that less
fuel will be needed for the trip. This will allow them to also make profit as they could charge
extra to their passengers if they wish to take more luggage, this is something that they have
already put into play.
Keeping their comfort of transport about the same as it was before will allow them to
continue to make their stakeholders happy such as their customers which will expect their
rights for travel comforts to be acknowledged. Keeping their stakeholders happy will allow
them to continue to make a profit as well as filling up their seats by advertising. Having a full
flight is more fuel efficient as there will be more people taking up the available seats to
make up for the amount of emissions created, the more people on the flight, the less
emissions are made per person. As there will be more people aboard, British Airways will be
wanting to reduce on board waste such as plastic wrapping.
They are planning to do this by increasing the amount of reusable items such as face cloths
and metal cutlery which can be washed and used again which will improve the eco-
friendliness of the business and reduce the amount of wasteful products. As they will be
hoping to fly more people on a smaller amount of flights, this will help bring in more profit
for them and more GPD for the UK as well as being as eco-friendly as they can. This in turn
will attract more tourists to pick their airline as they will be seen as a cleaner airline which
will promote their image. One of the main ways that has allowed British Airways to become
eco-friendly is having partnerships with other airlines such as ‘oneworld alliance’ allowing
for aircraft to be shared out between the differing airlines. If one airline such as Qatar
airways had an aircraft going to the same destination as British airways, they would be able
to move some of their passengers to the other aircraft to fill it up and reduce the amount of
carbon emissions that would have been produced by two aircraft instead of one.

Premier Inn-
Premier Inn is also a tourism business which operates in the private sector, they have an aim
of gaining profit and ensuring that their advertising reaches the public. The different roles
that are in the organisation all link together to help the business gain as much profit as
possible. Premier Inn has been working hard to ensure that it can place itself in as many
locations as possible as to ensure it can provide more of its services. As well as this, the
business wants to make sure that they have an accurate description of the facilities as to
bring in more income. They want to make sure that they can keep their stakeholders such as
their customers happy by meeting their expectations as to have them coming back. They
will want to appeal to as many of their customers as they can so work to ensure that they
