, Unit 4: Managing an event Assignment 3
In this assignment I will be introducing the event management for the Summer’s Euro
Championship 2020 and how they have handled themselves in this rising pandemic of
Covid-19. Therefore, it will be followed up by my own event which I have set up in the
College for Macmillan Charity. I will be talking about the experience, teamwork and the
overall profits we have made from this event followed by a justification and conclusion.
P7- Explain in a situation where a large event couldn’t run or was to be postponed due to
a global crisis what decisions would you as an event organisation have to make and what
would you have to put into place. For example, business plan, aims and objectives etc.
You could use events such as e.g. Glastonbury, a theatre production, Euros 2020 as
examples. Furthermore, explain the specific management skills that you would
demonstrate in this situation too.
This Summer’s Euro 2020 Championship had been postponed due to Coronavirus pandemic
until 2021. The Postponement from Friday 11 June to 11th July 2021 is the planned
postponement. This is having been known to be the “the biggest crisis that football has
faced in history”. The FIFA president did repeatedly stress on the public comments that the
recognition of public health is far more urgent priority than the Euro 2020. Therefore, a
conference call was held in the council bureau and the replacement postponed date was set
with also the suggestion of £8.3 donation for the WHO for Covid 19 pandemic.
If I was an organiser for the Euro 2020, the main aim is for the public safety to be dealt with
any other tasks. I would have to join in the meeting with the other organisers and
representatives of the national football governing of the clubs, leagues, and the players
across the continent in order to plot their responses to the Covid 19 crisis. Another objective
is that every football division will have to be suspend the matches or at least play in empty
stadiums in order to counter the pandemic. Therefore, another objective for the
maintenance is for the fans who have bought the existing tickets for the Euro 2020 will be
