In this assignment I’m going to describe the characteristics of
the information needed in Sainsbury’s organisation.

Sainsbury’s was founded in 1869 and today operates over
1,200 supermarkets and convenience stores and employs
around 161,000 colleagues. They put their customers at the
heart of everything they do and have invested in many stores.
There also use it because it’s an easy way to gather
information. In order to gather their information Sainsbury’s
collect information about their customer relating to the product
they sell to their consumers. For example if Sainsbury’s want to
find out about a new product they will prepare to do a primary
research which can include speaking to customer face to face
or produce a survey to encourage customer to give their
opinions so they can build strong relationship with and the data
they collected will be class as first hand/original information. On
the other hand they could use secondary information which
includes

Secondary/internal: The data or information has already been
gathered before. You can break the sources of secondary data
into internal sources and external sources. Internal sources
include data that exists and is stored inside your organization.
External data is data that is collected by other people or
organizations from your organization's external environment.

Primary/internal: The data or information is gathered first-hand.
Primary research consists of a collection of original primary
data collected by the researcher. It is often undertaken after the
researcher has gained some insight into the issue by reviewing
secondary research or by analyzing previously collected
