Unit 4 Assignment C
Dyson has the potential to be a successful engineering company that produces
high-quality goods and services. We can utilise quality systems and value
management to help ensure that outputs are of a high standard. We can seek
accreditation to demonstrate that their products satisfy international quality
standards. Accreditation shows clients that the company has quality
management systems in place, which can provide the company a competitive
edge and give customers confidence in buying from them.

The ISO 9000 series of standards provides a quality assurance system for
manufacturing and service industries. These standards can be used to help the
organisation improve by implementing quality management principles. The
Dyson engineering organisation must demonstrate that it meets 20
requirements in order to obtain ISO 9000 certification.
The ISO 14000 series of standards provides guidelines on how an organisation
can improve its environmental performance, such as by lowering its carbon
footprint. Some specific standards in the series are ISO 14001, which deals with
waste reduction, and ISO 14006 which deals with improving product quality in
an environmentally friendly manner. It focuses on the establishment,
documentation, upkeep, and continuous improvement of an organization's
eco-design management system. ISO 14040 is concerned with life-cycle
assessments, which involve evaluating a product's environmental impact from
raw material supply to production, packaging, and distribution, all the way to
the end of its life. There are instructions for conducting a life-cycle assessment.
How can Dyson apply quality assurance systems to
products?

, As a company, we should follow International Organisation for standardisation
because they have a set of standards called the 9000 series. The 9000 series
helps to supply quality assurance systems for companies like Dyson as it
manufactures products that are sold all over the world, and with these
standards it could be used to improve its reputation through applying the
standard quality management principles. In order to gain ISO 9000 certification
Dyson must pass the 20 criterial of the series which are:
• Management responsibility – The management team must define the
roles and responsibilities of the quality management personnel. A
quality policy that is documented, understood by all, implemented,
refined, and monitored should be developed. A member of the
management team must be designated to oversee the quality system's
implementation, regular review, and monitoring.
• Quality system – It is necessary to create and implement a system that
demonstrates that all client criteria will be met.
• Contract review – Contracts and purchase orders must be examined to
ensure that they satisfy the customer's requirements. Any contract
revisions must be evaluated and agreed upon.
• Design control – Projects in which the company is involved must be
carefully planned, with all aspects of the project documented and
confirmed. Any modifications must be overseen by qualified people.
• Document and data control – Control must be maintained over all
documents and data handled within the organisation. Controlling their
manufacture, distribution, amendment, and, finally, disposal is all part of
this.
• Purchasing – Contractors and suppliers must be assessed and managed.
This includes keeping an eye on their quality control methods.
• Control of supplied product – To prevent damage or loss, products must
be clearly recognizable and handled, as well as stored correctly.
• Product identification and traceability – Products must be tracked and
recognizable throughout the manufacturing, packaging, and delivery to
the customer processes.
• Process control – Product development must be planned, regulated,
monitored, and recorded at every level.
