, 2
The Baroque Period caught my attention during my virtual tour of the Museum of
Modern Art (MET). This period relates to Western European art and music from 1600 to 1750
and is derived from the Portuguese Barroco. During this period, music and art bore lavishness,
drama and emotional interest characteristics (Readingaboutart, 2020).

might seem sporadic. For instance, during the 19th-century critics who used the term “the music
of Bach and Handel’s era sounded extremely beautified and extravagant” (Readingaboutart,

The composers and artists fashioned an extravagant musical enhancement and changed the
melodies' symbolism and imagery. This undertaking created new musical techniques shaped
through the instruments used. Some of the depictions to illustrate the Baroque period style are as
follows.
