Research Questions (What questions does the research seek to answer?) 1) Do social studies teachers, who coach, differ in demographic characteristics and school contexts from non-coaching teachers? 2) Do social studies teachers, who coach, differ in the subjects they teach from non-coaching teachers? 3) Do social studies teachers, who coach, differ in their emphases in instruction from non-coaching teachers? Define Hypothesis (Or state the correct hypothesis based upon variables used) Teacher-coaches are more likely to implement lectures, textbooks, worksheets, and videos, while non-coaches were more likely to prefer examinations of photographs, artifacts, or primary materials. Identify Dependent and Independent Variables and Type of Data for the Variables Independent variables: gender, teacher race, community type, teaching experiences, teacher demographics, school context, school racial makeup, and school socioeconomic status. Dependent variable: comparing social studies teacher-coaches and noncoaches.
