Term Project: Term projects are where you are given a project for a certain time, example a
long-term project lasts for months/years.
What does Project Management mean to you: how a project is created, what is involved
within making a project, all the skills that are needed to achieve the objective of said
project.
What is involved in project management: Figuring out what is needed for that project, how
to manage it correctly, working on your own or in a team, determining how to approach the
project to get it done more efficiently, monitoring progress and how to continue
Do all projects go through the same phases: Some projects may have similar phases
although it may depend on the project topic. However, they all start with a planning stage.
Summary of 2 real world projects you are aware of: 1. Creating New Consoles
2. College Mergers
Stages of a project:
- Start the project
- Organising and Preparing
- Carrying out the work
- Closing the project
Why is it recommended to have a “starting the project phase?”
- You need to know if the project is worth pursuing, this means that the idea for the
project must be something that is worth spending time on due to so many people
having ideas but them not being that good.
- You need to get basic information together, this means that you need to get loads of
information about the project otherwise you can’t go into phase two.
- Sketch out the idea of the project and get everyone on board to get the planning
started, if you start planning ahead because it may spend time that may not be a
good idea as you may then find that people disagree with what you have come up
with.
Summarise the 6 key areas that need investigating during the starting phase
- Objective: what the object of the project actually is? The project needs to be
discussed with those who have interest in perusing the idea.
