hundreds of thousands of Nephrons
3. Blood moves from the
Cortex- The outer
capillaries surrounding the
area of the kidney,
Nephrons and into the Renal
surrounding the
Vein
Medulla
1. Renal Artery- Takes oxygenated but unfiltered
Glomerulus- The part of the “dirty” blood to the kidney
Nephron where blood is filtered;
removes wastes, ions, and some
water.
Renal Pelvis- Funnel shaped
area where urine collects
4. Renal Vein- Takes before going through Ureter
deoxygenated but filtered
“clean” blood away from
Tubule- the kidney
Wastes, ions
and some
water from
blood are sent
here. It
connects back
to the Renal
Pelvis.
