• You will have TWO separate papers in the same exam.
• Both papers are 50 minutes long: the whole exam is 140 minutes.
• Paper 1M: Modern prose/drama

Inspector Calls, 30 marks.
• Paper 1N: 19th-century novel
Answer one question: (depending on your English set: Great
Expectations or The Sign of Four or A Christmas Carol), 30 marks.
• The whole exam is worth 60 marks.
Paper 1M: Modern prose/drama
Timing recommendations :
Section A – one question, 50 minutes (34 marks);

Section B – two questions, 40 minutes + 15 minutes (36 marks).
