Denotation is the direct definition of the word that you find in the dictionary for example in
Headline A the word culture meaning the social behavior, institutions, and norms found
in human societies, as well as the knowledge, beliefs, arts, laws, customs, capabilities,
and habits of the individuals in these groups. And Connotation is the emotional
suggestions of a word, that is not literal for example in Headline A the word weaponized
means frightened
1.2 Discuss the use of punctuation in “cancel culture” in Headline B. (2 marks)
An exclamation mark is a punctuation mark usually used after an interjection or
exclamation to indicate the main idea/ concept or object “cancel culture” . The writer is
adding emphasis to something s/he is said because it is important.
