Grote veranderingen
De Britse stad Liverpool groeide erg. De stad had een haven waar schepen uit India en
Amerika veel ruwe katoen brachten, die tot textiel werden verwerkt in fabrieken. Om
grondstoffen te vervoeren waren er kanalen en spoorlijnen aangelegd. De haven was ook
belangrijk voor passagiersvervoer tussen Amerika en Europa. De periode vanaf 1800 werd de
moderne tijd genoemd omdat het leven veranderde. Mensen werkte op het land en werd
het werk gedaan met de hand en werktuigen. In 1900 werkten mensen in de industrie, dat is
de productie in fabrieken. De industriële revolutie had veel andere vervangingen. Mensen
werkten meer en reisde met de trein of stoomschip. Er waren ook veel nieuwe producten.
Meer productie
Er werden nieuwe spullen gemaakt, het belangrijkste was de stoommachine. In 1765 werd
er een betere uitgevonden. Ze hadden meer stoomdruk en waren ook voor de
textielnijverheid, heel veel producten werden beter. De productie steeg en er werden
machines gemaakt, ook de rijke kregen meer invloed in de samenleving.
Veranderingen in de industrie
er ontstonden nieuwe industrieën, zoals de chemische industrie waar nieuwe stoffen
werden gemaakt zoals kunststof en plastic. Dankzij kunstmest kregen de boeren weer veel
grotere oogsten. Met de gloeilamp kon elektrisch licht worden gemaakt, meer mensen
gingen in de industriële samenleving werken en ook veel gingen in steden werken.
