#Recyclenergy Prepared for: ………. Prepared by: ………… SOCS 325 Environmental Sociology #Recyclenergy live chat According to Ann Smarty, a social media examiner, “A Twitter chat is apublic Twitter conversation around one unique hashtag. This hashtag allows you to follow the discussion & participate in it. Twitter chats are usually recurring & on specific topics to regularly connect people with these interests.”I’ve decided to host a live twitter chat because I would like to discuss with many people as possible & spread the message & goal about how we can recycle energy & help the environment with my hashtag #recyclenergy. Hosting a twitter is an effective way to promote your social media presence because its public, which means millions of followers of the chat participants will see the hashtag & check what’s behind it. This means hundreds of new people learning about your brand each time. Also, my followers could tune in weekly at the same time to interact with each other, follow each other, retweet each other, etc. That’s one of the best ways to turn my followers into my brand advocates. I am in the process of planning a live twitter chat in a way that will draw the attention of hundreds of people that will spread the word & can volunteer to do something different to help the environment. I began by choosing the correct hashtag. This sounds like a no-brainer, but you need to be careful here. I picked #Recyclenergy on purpose because I wanted to be able to covertwo environmental issues that I feel passionate for are world pollution & recycling. Air pollution can harm us when it accumulates in the air in high enough concentrations. Millions of Americans live in areas where urban smog, particle pollution, & toxic pollutants pose serious health concerns. People exposed to high enough levels of certain air pollutants may experience irritation of the eyes, nose, & throat, coughing, chest tightness, & breathing difficulties, worsening of existing lung & heart problems, such as asthma, & increased risk of heart attack. Recycling is very important as well. If we don’t recycle, Pollution & pollutants will overpopulate the Earth whether it is air, water, or land pollution. People will stop riding bikes & will ride cars which emit carbon dioxide into the air. The atmosphere will be damaged if too much carbon dioxide goes into the air. Landfills will become too massive & crowded with trash & items that could be recycled. The landfills will become too toxic from all the chemicals coming out of Styrofoam, batteries, plastic, paper, & more. Now that I have the adequate hashtag, I am in the process of picking the time. Most of the people I want to reach will be working a 9-5 job, then I need to pick lunchtime or the evening for my live twitter chat. In general, I think lunchtime & early to mid-evenings are the best times for Twitter chats. My twitter live chat will be February 20, 2019 at 12 pm., it will be approximately 45 minutes long. In those 45 minutes, the audience will be able ask different kind of questions, be informed about the issue we are having & provide answers about common questions that many people make. Because this will be a live twitter chat, I will be anticipated with answers to common questions that the audience often asks. Some of those questions & answers are the following; ● What are the financial benefits of solar energy? When you install a solar energy system on your property, you save money on your electricity bills & protect yourself against rising electricity rates in the future. How much you can save depends on the utility rates & solar policies in your area but going solar is a smart investment regardless of where you live. ● What are the environmental benefits of solar energy?Solar power, like other renewable energy resources, has many environmental & health benefits. Going solar reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change, & also results in fewer air pollutants like sulfur dioxide & particulate matter, which can cause health problems. ● How much will solar panel maintenance cost? Solar panel systems are made of durable tempered glass & require little to no maintenance for the 25 to 35 years that they will generate power. In most cases, you don’t even need to clean your solar panels regularly. If something does happen, most equipment manufacturers include warranties, although warranty terms depend on the company. ● Where are solar panels commonly used? Germany has by far the highest capacity of solar photovoltaic power (PV) in the world at 32,4 GW. Other countries in Europe have also started to implement similar incentives & show impressive numbers in terms of new growth; Italy added more than 3.4 GW of solar PV capacity in 2012. France, UK, Greece & Bulgaria were not far behind. Spain has become the world leader in solar thermal power (CSP) with a capacity of 1 GW in 2012. ● How can I do to volunteer or donate? There are many different campaigns that people can make donations that will directly go to basic operations. Volunteering is another option, volunteers with a range of skills, such as translating, & community organizing can participate in many events. ● What happens if there is snow on solar panels? Solar panels convert sunshine into power, so if your panels are covered in snow they can’t produce electricity. Snow generally isn’t heavy enough to cause structural issues with your panels, & since most panels are tilted at an angle the snow will slide off. If snow does accumulate, your panels are easy to clean. ● How does solar impact my property values? Homes with solar energy systems sell for more than homes without them. However, your property value will only increase if you own, rather than lease, your solar panel system. From today until February 20, 2019, I will start reaching out to people in my class, work, friends & family members to join the live twitter chat & be able to inform them about recycling energy, how can they help the environment & how that will help them as well. I will also send out emails, announcements, posts, etc. that way more people will be able to participate in the chat.
