Mental Health Counselors work with patients who suffer from behavioral, cognitive, or
emotional challenges through therapy promoting well-being. Counselors are trained and use a
variety of modalities such as psychotherapy to guide patients through their conflict or trauma to
provide the utmost care to patients. To better understand the job associated with being a
counselor, it's crucial to gain insight from those who work in the mental health field. This project
will discuss the Mental Health Counselor I chose to interview, her licensure information and
therapeutic approach, and the reasoning behind choosing this particular Mental Health
Counselor.

The Licensed Mental Health Counselor I chose to interview is Tracey Grady. I was able
to find her by searching for counselors in my area. Tracey Grady is a Licensed Mental Health
Counselor who has been practicing for over seven years, licensed in Washington state. She
works with families, individuals, and couples, specializing in various therapy and holistic mind-
body approaches in an office setting. She graduated from the Seattle School of Theology and
Psychology with a Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychology. Her practicum was through a
community health program, and her internship was at the Recovery Café located in Everett,
Washington. She decided to open a private practice and shared supervision with an associate to
complete her supervision hours required for licensure. She currently runs a business with an
associate called the Ohana Counseling Center, which houses seven licensed counselors.

I chose Tracey Grady to interview because her counseling approach coincides with what I
would like to add to my practice someday. She focuses on a psychodynamic approach and uses
mindfulness awareness of the breath to create structure and tools for patients. She also
