, Abstract
The project name is, A Place to Call Home. The main goal is to end homelessness. It is
designed to help families and individuals, in the immediate need of shelter, with the pathway to a
sustained residence. I am planning to get acres of land and develop it to form a small
community. There will be homes for families, individuals, and also a church. There will be a
small medical treatment facility on the property, but we will work closely with neighboring
community mental and physical health providers. This will be inclusive of addition counseling
as well. A major component is the opportunity to go from temporary housing to permanent
housing within the same community.
The significance of this project is that for the majority of the shelters, it is short time
stays and then the difficulty in locating homes. This project will eliminate that difficulty
because the homes will already be available. I was led to this project out of years of talking to
homeless people and hearing their concerns. I was then led to help them because I can’t wait on
other people to do what I know needs to be done.
This project should be funded because this is a United States problem. There are people
suffering on the streets when there is no need. If a redirection of resources is the only thing
stopping people from being without, then let us assist them. Every person needs proper medical
care, shelter and an opportunity
