1. MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Briefly describe your teaching philosophy. Write a paragraph of 5-7 sentences on
each of the following aspects:
Why do you want to be a teacher?
How do you believe you can make a difference?
It all started in grade 12, this was the most difficult grade for me as most learner’s
already had a passion and knew what they wanted to become one day, while I was
very much lost. I had the idea that I wanted to become an accountant but my heart was
not set on it. I never thought that I would want to become a teacher. I had the
privilege to have had a teacher who inspired me to become one as well but I also
had I teacher that made me want to be there for the learners who doesn’t get
favored and get things handed to them easily. I learned from both those teachers
and both inspired me to become a teacher.
The way she taught and presented her lesson really made me see teachers in a
different light. I started to become aware of how she treated every learner and build
arelationship with us. Until then I never really cared much what teachers do, as a
learneryou only sit in your desks and do as teachers instruct, go home and do your
homeworkand write exams, but not really do you see everything they do to facilitate
your learning,how they support and motivate you. From that moment I saw how this
teacher really put in effort and how she gave her all to her profession I started to
develop the desireto become a teacher as well. I started to observe our other
teachers and the way theyteach. There was also this one particular teacher who
would favor the popular learners and it broke my that other learners have to go
through this as well. There were a lot of other teachers who were very supportive as
well, thus I started to see the little things about what being a teacher means and
requires. I can only say that I would want to be that teacher to inspire my learners
as much as my teachers has inspired me and provide them that little
