What are your thoughts after reading the document? Did you realize it existed? How does
the code apply to nursing education? The "Code of Fair Testing Practices in Education" is
over 10 years old. Is it still relevant today? Why? If not, how should it be revised? Use
correct APA format when citing.
Introduction
The “Code of Fair Testing Practices in Education” has been an important pillar over the
years in standardization and quality assessment of the education system. The nature of diversity
, of the modern education system calls for heightened control measures to ensure that tests
conducted to assess the quality and worth of the students and the entire educationsystem, in
general, are done in thefairest manner. This code plays a huge role in developing educational
tests that come to influence both employment and certification procedures during the latter stages
of the student’s life.
Relationship of the Code with Nursing Education
The code may be analyzedin terms of the recipient, i.e. the test users and test developers.
Test developers are the people who sit down and come up with the various tests, educational
policies and guidelines upon consultation with the relevant industry stakeholders. The test users,
on the other hand, are the people who administer the tests and make the conclusion upon
obtaining the tests results. The test users may, therefore, be described to be the people at the
point of application of the tests e.g. tutors who administer tests to students at the end of the
semester
Important in the implementation of this code in nursing education, is the relationship
between the test users and the test developers e.g. in the nursing sector. Both of these parties
must work together and appreciate each other’s opinion since they are equally important in the
test and policy development process associated with the education system (Oermann &
Gaberson, 2013). The test developers should first understand the content required of nurses at the
end of each respective course, and hence, the course objectives must be well known before the
start of the test formulation. The test users can only present this information in conjunction with
the health sector stakeholders who are the determinants of the necessary knowledge required of
the students.
Critical Parameters of the Code in Relation to Nursing Education
