Anxiety disorder is a psychological disorder under the DSM-V manual that entails increased individual feeling of fear that is related with something that is about to happen and sometimes associated with unknown fears. Anxiety is therefore a condition of multifactorial etiology since it may arise following buildup of minor stresses and fears. The significant symptoms of anxiety disorder as per the DSM-V manual includes, muscle tension, fatigue, sleeplessness, restlessness and lack of concentration. Ayurveda medicine was developed in India and has been used in treatment of diseases based on incorporation of spiritual, mental and physical wellbeing. In ayurvedic medicine, the etiological development of anxiety is associated with the Pitta Dosha following the distortion of balance between the three doshas; Pitta, Vata and Kapha. Based on the Ayurveda pathogenesis of anxiety, Ayurveda medicine can be used in treatment of anxiety disorder (Carol, 2017).
