3. What are the following sounds and where are they heard.
a. Vesicular- Heard across lung surface- lower pitched, rustling sound, higher intensity during
inspiration
b. Bronchial-Heard over trachea- Higher pitched, louder, inspiration and expiration are equal,
pause between inspiration and expiration
c. Bronchovesicular- Heard over the anterior one third of the chest near sternum, scapula
posteriorly- loud, medium pitched and intensity with inspiration and expiration being
equal in duration
4. What needs to be taught to a patient with DVT? Wear antiembolism stockings, elevate legs, do
not massage
5. What is allergic rhinitis? When the body’s immune system becomes sensitized and overreacts to
something in the environment that typically doesn’t cause a problem to most. Commonly known
