ASSIGNMENT ONE –
EXPLORE THE ROLE OF AN EVENT ORGANISER
, Report: Exploring the role of an event organiser
Introduction
In this assignment, I will be exploring the role of an event organiser. I will be researching the
role and gathering evidence to support my points. In this assignment, I must investigate what
needs to be done to be an effective event organiser, this means I must look into the
successful events/event organisers and analyse the skills that they have and justify why this
is effective.
An event is something that takes place for an occasion from a sports competition to a
birthday party. Events are common in everyday life, you could have a school event like a fair
or achievement assembly. All events are thoroughly planned by an event organiser. An
event organiser is the backbone of the event, they coordinate all aspects of the event from
finance to the balloons, it is a very important role as you have everyone to impress.
Skills needed
● To be organised - being organised means to know what you’re doing at all times,
this is needed in the planning of the event to ensure you have everything needed for
it. For the organisation to be effective it must be done in the right way to benefit the
event, for example, in order of importance so that the most significant parts of the
event are followed through. This helps to event process to run smoothly and
effectively. I am efficient in my organisation skills and I will utilise it to benefit the
event
● Limitations - knowing when to stop or how far to go, for example, you don’t want to
exceed your expenditure as if this happens you will not make any profit and
potentially be in minus. This is needed to ensure you don’t go over and above for the
people paying for the event. It has to be ensured that they get what they pay for
otherwise your going to be in a loss.
● Legal Requirements - these must be followed in order to protect yourself and the
people attending your event. It is important to protect your business and follow the
legal requirements so that if anything were to go wrong you can ensure you have all
the paperwork need to show you are cooperating with the law, and you won’t be held
accountable for anything. If legal procedures aren’t followed it will damage your
reputation and make you look unprofessional. Everyone involved in the event should
be aware of this to ensure that it is carried out.
