Please use these guidelines to help you to complete
assignment 1 (Exploring Business) and hand it to teams.
P1 – Explain the features of 2 contrasting Businesses.
You need to discuss:
2 different business e.g. Private Sector (profit making) &
voluntary sector (charity).
Discuss their history, the products and services they
offer.
Identify their business objectives (what they are trying
to achieve)
Do they have a mission statement?
Do they operate in the primary, secondary of tertiary
sector?
Limited or unlimited liability.
P2 – Stakeholders and their influence.
You need to identify and discuss the different stateholders
for each business.
Generally they would include: (Employees (unions),
Shareholders, Customers, Management, The local
community, The Government, Suppliers, (Charity – Trustees)
You need to say how they influence the
business/organisation that you are discussing.
Ways to influence:
Press and Publicity
Raising money (charity)
Voting at the AGM (Shareholders in a Company) vote on
pay for the Directors and also elect the board of
Directors.
