General tips for Russia:
• Russia is part of the depth study of the course which means you study a smaller time
frame but with greater detail. An understanding of key stats, dates and events is
integral in achieving high marks so make sure you understand the content.
• Just like in your breadth paper, your ability to analyse and successfully and
convincingly argue a point is very important. Make sure to examine both sides of the
argument and make a substantiated and well backed up argument.
• Extra reading is very helpful here, the more historiography you read, the more
historians you will be able to quote, which is extremely impressive to examiners.
Make sure to show off and incorporate (make sure it links to the question) any
historians and their views in your arguments.
• Flash cards come in very handy here because it is a shorter time frame and therefore
key facts and stats are needed. Make flash cards about key dates and events.
