A PLC is when a group of professionals (in this case educators) come together to share
their knowledge, information and resources with each other. Teachers need to be
lifelong learners and a PCL helps them to keep learning and expand their knowledge of
their specific subject. At PCLs educators can extend their methodologies and
knowledge which ultimately benefits the learners. These gatherings allow teachers to
compare their teaching style, materials and strategies with other educators. This
process will help benefit the entire Education Department as the needs of the students
will be met and the educators can set new reachable goals in their syllabus.
Look at the nine (9) components of a PLC on the diagram in the question paper.
Choose FIVE (5) of the PLC components from the diagram, and explain what these five
components tell us about how a PLC functions to improve teaching and learning at a
school.

students. Schools in disadvantaged areas could
be assisted as they are given and would have
access to more information, activities and
