Introduction


Adolf Hitler, the mention of the name reminds people all over the world of how a political

leadership can go very bad. The grotesque leadership of Adolf Hitler has led to the rise of many

questions ot just among historians but also among psychologists just to mention a few. One critical

question is what aspects of Adolf Hitler’s life led to his rise to power and eventually become one

of the most destructive and brutal in the history of the world (Duiker, 2015). This paper provides

a chronicle of Adolf Hitler’s life leading up to his ascension into political power and control in

Germany. From a failed student of art to a skilled political orator and subsequent gaining control

over Germany, in order to understand Adolf Hitler one has to start from his early years.

Adolf Hitler’s Young Life


During the adolescent stage of Adolf Hitler, he expressed a passion and interest in art,

which he was good at. His passion drove him to work towards gaining recognition as a successful

artist. It appears that even in his young years, Adolf Hitler valued recognition, which is perhaps

the earliest reasons for joining politics later on. In fact, Adolf Hitler had left his birth home after

the death of his mother and travelled to Vienna, which was known as the glamorous capital of the

Austro-Hungarian Empire. Hitler believed that Vienna was the ideal place to achieve his youthful

dream of becoming a renowned artist (Duiker, 2015). Convinced about his desire to become an

renowned artist, Hitler spent sleepless nights reading and practicing about art. Nonetheless, he was

on two occasions unsuccessful in joining the Vienna Academy of Arts.

The Art school’s admission committee noted that his drawing skills were not satisfactory

during Hitler’s first attempt to joing the Vienna Academy of Arts but this did not prevent him from

making a second attempt. This was a clear indication that Hitler was very determined. Therefore,

in Hitler’s young years he possed both passion and determination to attain his dream; character
