Abstract
Research Interest: The research interest for this study is to better understand the link age has to
memory, and how it effects memory performance throughout adult aging within the domain of
cognitive neuroscience and psychology.
Demographic: Individuals from the ages of 20 till the ages of 70, from all races, ethnic
backgrounds and cultures. The experiment will take place in a quite are.
Research question: Does age affect short-term memory recall in adults from age 20 until the age of
70.
Proposed Research Method: A quantitative methodological approach will be used will be guided
by a positivist paradigm.
Proposed Data Collection Method: The proposed data collection method that will be used is
information sheets, each participants data will be filled in on the sheet.
Sampling: For this study, 30 participants (15 in the age group 20-40, and 15 between the age group
50-70) will be taking part in this experiment. The proposed sampling strategy will be that of non-
probability, more specifically convenient sampling.
Proposed Data Analysis Method:
The proposed data analysis method that will be used is ANOVA, chunking, primacy and recency
effect.
