Compare and Contrast Essay

In this writing, I would like to compare the relationship
between black and white people in the fifties in New Orleans
and Mississippi based on the book "Black like me". Black Like
Me, first published in 1961, is a nonfiction book by white
journalist John Howard Griffin recounting his journey in the
Deep South of the United States, at a time when African-
Americans lived under racial segregation.

In New Orleans and Mississippi are black people to each other
helpful, friendly, nice, and relaxed. In both cities is the
relationship between black and white people critical. White
people are aggressive, disrespectful, and oppressive to black
people.
In general, we see that the Situation in Mississippi is similar to
New Orleans.
In New Orleans, Sterling helped Griffin to find a room, gave
advice on how to behave in a dangerous place, and in
Mississippi at the rail-train station Griffin met a black man, who
helped him to find a room.
He was open, ready to help, and took Griffin to have food.
The relation between white and black is in New Orleans and
Mississippi identical.
White people are aggressive to black people. They tried to
attack blacks in Mississippi. In New Orleans, a young boy
wanted to follow Griffin at night. They have disrespectful
behavior towards blacks and they stare at blacks all the time.
In Mississippi are more behavioral rules than in New Orleans.
Blacks can not even look at pictures of white women.

As we can see on the mentioned points, that the relation
between Negros and between white and Negros in the fifties in
New Orleans and Mississippi was similar because the conflict
between black and white has long been a national problem.
