Introduction My name is Helen Walton and I am a nurse in New Mexico. Growing up on a small farm in rural NM, there were not many opportunities for further education. I was fortunate to start school at a vocational school and began my wait to be accepted into nursing school. Although I was ecstatic to become an LPN, I had my sights on further education. After four years I was able to start a unique type of educational program-long distance learning. As a student of Regents University of New York, I mailed my papers, used clinical sites for clinical, and utilized the CLEP system to challenge courses. It worked for my schedule, but I never thought it would catch on. After working in community and mental health for 20 year of my career, I wanted to help nursing students attain their goals.
