PSYC 290N Week 4 Course Project I: My Virtual Life – Raise A Child: Section 3-Adolescence: 15 to 18 years (GRADED A)
My virtual life week 4 Set 9: 12 years, 11 months Describe any physical or behavioral signs of incipient puberty. Jasmine started developing moral principles when she started discussing about what is fair and what is not , she also started arguing with us more often. Her looks and appearances started to mean a lot to her. She would spend all her money on make up and shoes. She started to use a lot of make up too. I believe these are some early signs of puberty. How would you characterize your child at this point in terms of the under-controlled, overcontrolled or resilient categories? Have there been any changes since the preschool period and why might they have occurred? Jasmine has gone from the resilient category over to the over-controlled category in a small way. Resilient children are characterized by self-confidence, emotional stability, and a positive attitude toward others, and over-controlled children tend to be emotionally brittle, introverted, and tense. Jasmine is mostly fairly calm, cheerful, and not too dramatic. I can easily relate to these because she is attaining the stage of puberty. She has been very well mannered from preschool, just a bit temperamental. My partner and I still supports her emotions, and try to help her manage them when she needs help. Using the 7th grade report card and your own observations, summarize your child’s academic skills at this point. What specific activities might promote some of these skills? Jasmine is a very smart and intelligent girl. She has become very good in maths and science program, even received grade Ain both classes, also received A in English, social studies, art, and Spanish. She loves reading, writing, and spelling. Her teacher recommended placement in 8th grade honors math, and an after school science club in 8th grade, so to continue promoting these skills, I plan on placing her in these classes and clubs. Set 10: Age 15 years, 0 months What activities and experiences at ages 12 and 14 has your teen been involved in that might promote healthy behavioral practices, physical fitness and skill in sports? Jasmine is enjoys dancing and even made the dance team at school. She is always practicing and stretching at home, and often has shows and competitions through the school. Also, her aunt came to visit, and she played tennis quite a bit with her during that time. Have there been any changes in your teen’s behavior toward you or your partner? Why are these occurring and how are you responding? There have been some little changes in Jasmine’s behavior toward me or my partner. She will occasionally become cranky at me and give me the silent treatment when she doesn’t get her way, but like when she was a toddler throwing a tantrum, I ignore it until she starts to get over it, and then talk to her when she calms down. She also gets annoyed or embarrassed of me more This study source was downloaded by from CourseH on :12:29 GMT -0
