Question 1 Consider the stakeholders that MTN listed on pages 28 to 29 of the
IR. Classify each of the four stakeholders under either the general or the task
environment. (4 marks)
The IR on page 28 and 29 has four stakeholders whom are Civil society, investment
community, subscribers/ customers, Governments and regulators.
Civil society, Government and regulators can be classified under the general
environment whilst the Investment community and customers fall under the task
environment.
Question 2 Critically analyse “Our market context”, on page 8, and “Sustaining
value using the six capitals”, on page 19 of MTN’s IR, and conduct a SWOT
analysis. Explain what a SWOT analysis is and provide two examples of each
element in your analysis. (9 marks)
SWOT analysis is a strategic planning and strategic management technique used to
help a person or organization identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and
threats related to business competition or project planning. It is sometimes called
situational assessment or situational analysis.
