The role of a friend is very important in sports coaching because over the years of wor
with an athlete a personal relationship is built up where as well as providing coaching
advice you also become someone, a friend, who they can discuss their problems or sh

This is an important role for a coach because if you are not a friend to the athlete they
not want to be there. They would not be enthusiastic about sessions and games which
lead to a downfall on performance which can lead to big mistakes in game. However, i
coach is an athlete's friend, then the athlete will be wanting to go to sessions and wan
to do well. Coaches give advice on how to get better in what they need to improve on
