BUSI 604-D04: Business Research Methods Ka’iulani Kini K. Talbot 2021 I am a Mexican American with Hawaiian ethnic background that has been able to break glass ceilings into a well dominated white male Hospitality industry. My interest in ethnocentrism is sparked by personal professional past experiences. With ethnocentrism present in corporate hospitality industry, where male, specially of Caucasian background are perceived as virtuous and superior with the corporate culture’s standards of value as universal, and out- groups as contemptible and inferior (Hammond, A., & Axelrod, R., 2006). This personal experience has made me realize that as a triple threat minority, I must work harder to prove my professional value to corporations that are mainly driven by white, American, male leadership.
