Puertorriqueños de Estados Unidos: Silent Dancing
Seeks to explain the dark underbelly of "The American Dream", as told by Judith Ortiz Cofer in her memoir, "Silent Dancing". Despite the intention of Latin American immigrants to provide their families with a better life, it often results in discrimination, loss of culture, sexual assault, and other terrible outcomes as integrated Latina women fail to find solace in both their families and the greater United States. (This essay is extremely personal and meaningful to me, as it describes my own experiences as a Chilean American.)
