MGT380 Leadership for Organizations
A successful leader can be comprised of a variety of traits. Throughout this paper, I will discuss leadership traits, what makes a leader successful, and what areas a leader at my current company can do to improve their leadership skills. I will explore both transactional and transformational leadership and how an effective leader can hold traits of both leadership styles. I will be touching on a leader within my current organization and how their micromanagement impacts an organization positively and negatively, and the impacts on the leader’s team and organization. Many successful companies create a vision and mission statement, then find leadership that can encompass and live those to their core. Teaching the values to their teams will make a strong leader and team. Leadership is a challenging role; you are faced with living a balance of decision making, working with stakeholders, creating a personal plan while living the company mission and vision for success. Apply one of the leadership theories from the course text to the organization Leadership styles vary from each leader across any organization. Ward 2016, discusses conscious leadership as conscious leadership is a way to conduct the responsibilities of a leader. There are many definitions of leadership; it is the “conscious” part that makes conscious leadership different from other management strategies (para. 1). Conscious leadership can complement many of the leadership styles discussed in our textbook. To be conscious means to be aware and mindful. The trait leadership style compliments the conscious leadership traits. “The trait leadership approach embodies the idea that leaders are exceptional individuals who possess a combination of valuable traits” (Measom 2019).
