PURPOSE OF THE CHAPTER
• To examine organising as the second fundamental function of
management. An overview of the importance of organising is
provided, followed by an examination of the fundamentals of
organising. An exposition is given of how an organization
evolves from a one-man business to a large business
organization with many depts.
• Authority relationships as well as reporting relationships are
explained.
• Factors influencing the design of an organization’s structure are
discussed
