From the introduction, the authors started with the idea that the world is in the midst of an epidemic of diabetes, furthermore, they described that the amount of people diagnosed with diabetes tend to double by 2030. And 23 million, in the USA, are currently diagnosed with diabetes. As the sixth leading cause of death annually, diabetes is being responsible for 225,000 death in the USA, with over 90% of older adults are diagnosed with diabetes. And the prevalence of diabetes, according to the study is somewhat higher in rural than urban area.
