The main sport that I play is Rugby Union. I play at Scrum-half, and fly-half. I play at School,
Club (Colchester rugby club) and Academy DPP level (Northampton saints). I have been
playing rugby since I was 8 years old.

My fitness strength is agility. Agility is the ability to move and change direction quickly. (at
speed) whilst maintaining control' .
Agility is important in my position, because I need to be able to change direction quickly to
dodge and make tackles. Having good agility allows me to dodge players to then give good
passes to players outside of me, or to go on my own, to score a try or make ground.
If I didn't have good agility, I wouldn't be able to dodge players or make as many tackles.
This means that I may lose the ball if I got tackled, and I might not be able to give a good pass
to someone outside of me. If I didn't have good agility, I may not be able to make as many
tackles, this means that more players would be able to get through, and we may concede more
tries per game.

Examples:
At the start of the season I was playing in a match and I was passed the ball from the
scrum-half, I then used my agility to dodge the opposition fly-half, and then that meant
that i could spin the ball outside for us to score in the corner. If I didn't have as good
agility, then I may have not got into the space to pass the ball to our winger, and we may
not have scored, and not have won the match.

In our second Natwest Cup Match, I was just behind our defensive line, then someone
missed a tackle and an opposition player came running through, I then used my agility to
change direction in time with him to make the tackle and stop him from scoring. If I didn't
have that agility to tackle the player, then we may have conceded a try and potentially
lost the game.

My fitness weakness is explosive power. Explosive power is the product of strength and speed.
Speed is The maximum rate at which an individual is able to perform a movement or cover a
distance in a period of time. Strength is The ability to overcome resistance. This can be
explosive, static or dynamic. Explosive power is not as important as agility in the positions that I
play, but can still be important and can really benefit me as a player in my positions.
Having good explosive power would allow me to be stronger when ball carrying, and would
potentially allow me to break tackles that I would not usually be able to break. If I could break
more tackles, then I could potentially score more tries or give a pass to a teammate for them to
score a try. I could also be able to out ruck opponents to secure or steal the ball. I may be able
to take down bigger and heavier opposition, and not have to have someone help me tackle him
to stop him breaking through
If I didn't have good explosive power, I may get tackled a lot more and lose the ball because of
it, which can result in a try. I may not be able to regain a ball through a ruck due to the opponent
out strengthening me. I also may not be able to tackle someone due to the overpowering me,
this could result in a try, especially if I was the last line of defence. If I didn't have as much
explosive power, opponents would find it easier to tackle me because I wouldn't be as much of
an opposing strength. They would be able to suppress me and I wouldn't be able to overpower
them, making it easier for them to take me down.
