C919 Facilitation of Context-Based Student-Centered Learning
This eight-week introduction to Community Health Nursing course will benefit the undergraduate nursing student by gaining knowledge and a more in-depth understanding into the foundations of community health, public health nursing, and the role of the BSN prepared nurse in promoting community health. The course will facilitate evidence-based active studentlearning by introducing specific concepts to Community Health & Population-Focused Nursing each week, along with opportunities to apply hands-on practice. Throughout the course, the undergraduate nurse will gain insight and practice skills to use in the application of the nursing process with patients of varying socioeconomic status, culture and age groups. Students will become familiar with the history, foundation theories, nurse models, politics, policy, ethics, epidemiology, communicable disease and cultural competency associated with community health. The student will put learning into practice by examing diverse cultures and influences on health, creating a community assessment, identifying vulnerable populations
