The wives of our holy prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) are called Ummahatul
Momineen. For all the Muslims they are like their mothers as per the orders of ALLAH. None of
the Muslims could propose them for marriage even after the demise of our holy prophet
Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Some of them were from the tribe of Quraish and some are
not from Quraish. The brief introduction of Ummahatul Momineen is discussed below:

Hazrat Khadija binte Khuwaylid (R.A.)

Hazrat Khadija binte Khuwaylid (R.A.) was the first wife of our holy prophet Muhammad (Peace
be upon him). When our holy prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) got married to her, he
was just 25 years old while Hazrat Khadija was 40 years old. She was a rich lady and
businesswomen.

Hazrat Sawdah binte Zama’ah (R.A.)

After Hazrat Khadija, our holy prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) did nikah with Hazrat
Sawdah. She was also from the tribe of Quresh. She passed away in the time of Hazrat Umar.
She was known for her generosity.

Hazrat Ayesha binte Abu Bakar (R.A.)

Hazrat Ayesha was the daughter of Hazrat Abu Bakar who was a very close friend of our holy
prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Her title was Siddiqua. She passed away in the time
of the Banu Ummaiyah government. She had great knowledge of the Quran and Hadith. It is
because she taught many companions of the holy prophet behind the curtain.

Hazrat Hafsah binte Umar (R.A.)

Hazrat Hafsah was the daughter of Hazrat Umar who was also a very close friend of our holy
prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). Her first husband got martyrdom in the battle of
Badar. After that, she got married to our holy prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

Hazrat Umme Habibah binte Abi Sufiyan (R.A.)

She came in the nikah of our holy prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) after the death of
her first husband Ubaidullah who was in some of those people who migrated to Abyssinia. The
message of nikah was given through Nijashi of Abyssinia.

Hazrat Zainab binte Khuzaimah (R.A.)

Because of her generous nature, Hazrat Zainab binte Khuzaimah is also known as Ummul
Masakeen. She passed away just after a few months of her nikah with our holy prophet
Muhammad (Peace be upon him). She is buried in Jannat ul Baquee.
