NRP-507-Advanced Pharmacology - University of Phoenix WK 5 Team 4 Case study.Fredrick Irving Case Study NRP/507 Advanced Pharmacology November 15, 2019 , DNP, RN, FNP-BCMr. Irving is a 45-year-old African American male who presents to the office for a follow-up related to a recent emergency department visit for a Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). One week ago, the patient presented to the emergency room complaining of pain and swelling in his left leg after a long flight which resulted in a diagnosis of a DVT. The patient was started on Xarelto 15mg PO twice a day for three weeks and told to follow-up with his PCP to get a new prescription of Xarelto. In addition, the patient was diagnosed with Hypertension six-months ago and started on Lisinopril 10 mg PO every day, and was supposed to follow-up one-month later, however patient states “he was too busy to come in” for his follow-up. Mr. Irving’s’ chief concern today is the side effects of Xarelto. He denies chest pain, shortness of breath, edema, change in eating habits or activity patterns, sputum production, postnasal drip or runny nose.
